e-dec is the legacy electronic customs declaration system of the Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG), used to declare goods digitally for import, export and transit. Private individuals and shippers use the free e-dec Web online application, while forwarders, hauliers and customs agents submit declarations through certified software via an interface. e-dec replaced the earlier M90 procedure and is being gradually superseded by the new Passar goods-traffic system as part of Switzerland's customs digitalisation programme DaziT. Timeline (planning, as of June 2026): e-dec Export was migrated to Passar Export at the end of 2025; for imports, the last declaration via e-dec is expected to be possible until 30 September 2027, after which import declarations will be made exclusively through Passar and the Declar web application (successor to e-dec Web). Roadmap dates are planning status and may shift. Not to be confused with the EU transit system NCTS or with the assessment decision (eVV), which is only issued after the declaration as legal proof.
