Two stolen truck trailers have resurfaced in northwest England. However, the cargo remains missing: approximately 880 barrels of Guinness worth around £115,000 have disappeared. The theft began on Monday evening, August 31, 2026, at an industrial facility on Aston Lane in Runcorn. According to police, a truck drove onto the premises at around 19:45. The driver coupled a loaded trailer and left ten minutes later. At 21:12, a second truck arrived. This vehicle also picked up a trailer loaded with Guinness. Both white tarpaulin trailers bore the markings of logistics company GXO. Meanwhile, police have recovered both trailers in the Lathom area near Skelmersdale. The first was abandoned on September 1 at around 03:05 on Hall Lane. The second followed on September 2 at approximately 12:07 on Gillibrands Road. The Guinness barrels were no longer inside at that time. No arrests have been made so far. Police are particularly searching for a learner driver and their accompanying person. Their silver or white Renault Captur is said to have been cut off by the truck when the second trailer was abandoned. Any businesses or private individuals who were offered large quantities of Guinness are also urged to come forward. For the logistics industry, this case is no laughing matter of beer theft, but rather a well-executed cargo heist. The perpetrators apparently arrived with matching tractor units, coupled the waiting trailers, and drove away from the premises. This raises questions regarding site access control, driver verification procedures, and the release of loaded trailers.
