A framework agreement is in place, service scope and performance standards are defined – but pricing is yet to be agreed: that is the essence of unpriced contract lines. Individual service items – such as daily collections, specialized handling, or warehouse capacity – are contractually established, while price agreement is reserved for a later stage, typically a formal request for quotation (RFQ) process. This approach is common in longer-term logistics and freight contracts where future volumes are hard to forecast or market rates are subject to significant fluctuation. For procurement teams, it provides a structured baseline for price negotiations without delaying the operational start of the agreement. Not to be confused with a letter of intent: the service obligations are already binding; only the pricing remains open.
