Unlike a warehouse management system (WMS), which focuses on inventory and storage operations, a transport order system is built to govern the active movement of freight. It is a software platform that digitizes the creation, assignment, and real-time tracking of transport orders, replacing spreadsheet-and-phone-based coordination. The system centralizes customer master data, vehicle availability, and pricing parameters, generates route proposals automatically, and gives dispatchers and drivers a shared, continuously updated planning view. In day-to-day forwarding operations, it cuts dispatching time significantly and creates a complete audit trail for invoicing and proof of delivery.
