It accounts for every cost across the full service life: acquisition, operation, maintenance, energy consumption, labour, financing charges, and eventual disposal or residual value. Common applications include the evaluation of commercial vehicles, materials-handling equipment, warehouse management systems, and digital freight platforms. An asset priced attractively at purchase can turn out to be the costlier option once downtime, spare parts, and energy draw are factored in over several years.
