A Software Defined Warehouse (SDW) is a warehouse management and automation paradigm in which software agents, cloud-based platforms, and data-driven controls orchestrate and optimize all warehousing processes (receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, shipping) by decoupling decision logic from physical hardware, enabling rapid configuration, scalability, and interoperability of automated systems and labor management.
