A relocation barrier is an obstacle or impediment that makes relocating production, warehousing, or distribution sites to another geographic location difficult or uneconomical. Causes can include high sunk costs, specialized infrastructure, long-term contracts, tacit know-how, supplier relationships, regulatory requirements, and organizational or logistical adjustments.
