Polluter Pays Principle

A principle whereby those responsible for environmental damage or degradation bear the costs of measures to prevent, control, remedy, or compensate for that damage. In logistics and transport, this often means that costs related to environmental impacts, emissions, or required mitigations are charged to the polluter.
