Once refrigerated cargo is handed over for transit, maintaining cold-chain integrity becomes the shipper's primary concern – especially where the shipper bears the risk under an owner's risk arrangement. Dedicated reefer tracking systems transmit continuous data on temperature, humidity, GPS position and door events directly to the shipper's quality or logistics team. Early alerts enable corrective action before spoilage occurs. For high-value perishables such as pharmaceuticals, fresh seafood or cut flowers, uninterrupted data logs are equally vital as evidence when filing damage claims. Unlike the carrier's own reefer monitoring, independent IoT devices give shippers direct, carrier-neutral visibility throughout the entire journey.
