Export proof comprises customs or commercial documents evidencing that goods have actually left the exporting country. They serve two purposes: first, to substantiate VAT relief for exports (enabling the exporter to recover input tax), and second, to document correct fulfilment under the Incoterms clause chosen. Common forms include the export entry itself (filed electronically with customs), EUR.1 certificates of origin for preferential trade, or the ATA Carnet for temporary exports. The party bearing customs responsibility (per Incoterm) must obtain or provide these documents; the buyer often receives them as proof that the goods have genuinely been exported.
