When a customer order is released for fulfilment, the goods issue process begins in the warehouse: pickers assemble the ordered items, which are then checked, packed, labelled, and loaded onto the transport vehicle. Once handed over to the carrier, stock is formally reduced—the corresponding posting event in ERP or WMS systems is also called a goods issue. Unlike goods receipt, this process is governed by delivery deadlines and service level agreements (SLAs). Delays in picking or loading can trigger contractual penalties and damage customer relationships, making accurate and timely execution a direct factor in profitability.
