Exporters and importers trading between the EFTA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland) and Chile rely on the EFTA–Chile FTA, a free trade agreement in force since 2004. It progressively eliminates tariffs on originating goods and broadens market access in both directions. The agreement extends beyond merchandise trade to cover services, investment, and intellectual property rights. To benefit from preferential duty rates, traders must comply with the agreement's rules of origin and substantiate origin with the required documentation, such as an origin declaration. Not to be confused with the EU–Chile Association Agreement, which involves a separate set of contracting parties.
