Cross trade shipping enters the picture when cargo moves between two countries and a carrier or freight forwarder in a third country handles all transport arrangements—without the goods ever touching that forwarder's domestic market. In practice, the coordinating party books space with ocean carriers, airlines, or road hauliers, manages customs clearance at both ends, and ensures complete documentation. A classic example: a Swiss forwarder arranging shipment of electronic components from Taiwan to Brazil, with the goods never crossing Swiss territory. The model allows more efficient use of existing route capacity and helps avoid deadhead runs. Cross trade shipping differs from cross trade logistics mainly in scope: the logistics term covers the entire supply chain, while shipping refers specifically to the individual transport order and freight execution.
