CPT (Carriage Paid To) is an Incoterm where the seller pays the cost of carriage to the named destination. Risk passes to the buyer when the goods are handed over to the first carrier. The term ‘partial legs’ (Teilstrecken) indicates that the transport may be conducted in multiple segments or installments, with the seller remaining responsible for carriage to the named destination across all legs, while the risk transfer point remains at delivery to the first carrier. It does not change the seller’s obligation to arrange and pay for transport up to the destination, even when the shipment is split into parts.
