CMR insurance enters the picture the moment a road carrier operates across international borders under the CMR Convention: it covers the carrier's statutory liability for loss of, damage to, or delay in delivery of goods, up to the limits prescribed by the Convention and expressed in Special Drawing Rights (SDR) per kilogram of gross weight.
