CMR insurance enters the picture as soon as a carrier crosses an international border under the CMR Convention: it covers the carrier's liability for loss of, damage to, or delay in delivery of goods, up to the limits prescribed by the Convention and expressed in Special Drawing Rights (SDR) per kilogram of gross weight.
