A backup supply chain is an alternative network of suppliers, transportation modes, and logistics processes established to ensure continuity of supply in case disruptions affect the primary supply chain. It includes prequalified sources, redundant transport routes, additional warehousing capacity, and contingency plans to maintain production and delivery schedules during unexpected events.
