In logistics and transport, the transfer of liability refers to the moment or point at which legal responsibility for the transported goods shifts from the shipper or freight forwarder (e.g. seller) to the recipient (e.g. buyer) or another contractual party. It determines from which point onwards any damage, loss, or delay of the goods is borne by the recipient.
