Product preservation technologies in the cold chain include all technical measures and materials—such as refrigeration, freezing, insulated packaging, temperature-controlled transport and storage, and controlled atmosphere systems—used to prevent spoilage, quality degradation, and microbial growth of temperature-sensitive goods throughout handling, storage and distribution.
