When breakbulk cargo – non-containerised goods – is loaded onto ships, trucks, or rail wagons, lashing systems come into play: webbing straps, steel chains, wire ropes, turnbuckles, shackles, and fixed securing points on deck or loading surfaces that together form a system preventing shifting, tipping, and damage.
