Definition: Incoterms govern the delivery terms, transfer of risk, and allocation of costs between seller and buyer. They do not specify payment terms. Payment terms (timing, currency, method, securities) are primarily determined by the sales contract. Incoterms may have indirect effects by defining who bears transport and delivery costs and when risk transfers, but they do not dictate payment arrangements.
