Definition: CO2 costs refer to the carbon dioxide emissions produced along the transport chain and the portion of those emissions attributed to or considered within the delivery obligations as defined by Incoterms. In practice, CO2 costs relate to allocating greenhouse gas emissions to specific contractual parties or segments of the transport, used to assess environmental impact and, where relevant, to account for CO2 compensation or CO2-related pricing components.
