Unlike CA (Controlled Atmosphere) transport, which actively manages oxygen and CO₂ levels throughout the transit, fresh cargo with ethylene gas control targets a single substance: ethylene, the natural ripening hormone produced by climacteric fruits such as bananas, avocados, and tomatoes, which also accelerates ripening in neighbouring cargo units.
