Under CPT (Carriage Paid To), the seller is obligated to deliver the goods to the carrier at the origin and to pay for carriage to the named destination; risk transfers to the buyer when the goods are handed over to the first carrier. The CPT document handover refers to delivering the required transport documents (invoice, packing list, bill of lading/air waybill, and any additional trade documents) to the buyer or their bank to enable release or clearance of the goods at the destination.
