Unlike individual refrigerated containers or isolated storage facilities, the cold chain refers to the unbroken temperature-controlled network spanning the entire supply chain: from the producer through transport by road, sea, or air, transshipment, and intermediate storage, through to final delivery at retail or the end customer.
