Container operations are carried out by terminal operators, shipping lines and port logistics providers: boxes are unloaded from vessels, trains or trucks, stored in the container yard (CY), stacked and secured by gantry cranes or reach stackers according to stowage plans, and made ready for onward transport – with the reverse sequence on departure.
