A contractual mechanism by which parties adjust, suspend, or renegotiate obligations in response to a force majeure event (unforeseeable, unavoidable events such as natural disasters, war, or strikes) that prevents or delays performance, typically involving modifications to delivery schedules, quantities, prices, or payment terms in accordance with contract clauses or applicable law.
