What is customs value?

Customs value is the basis for calculating import duties (customs, VAT). It equals the transaction value of the goods plus transport and insurance costs to the EU border (CIF value).

What is included in customs value?

Customs value includes: goods value, freight to EU border, insurance, incidental costs such as packaging. Excluded: customs duty, VAT after import.

From what value do I have to pay customs?

Since 1 Jul 2026 the EU €150 duty relief is abolished. Until 1 Jul 2028 a transitional €3 flat duty per tariff line applies for consignments ≤ €150; above that, duty by HS/TARIC rate. Import VAT still applies from €0 (IOSS possible). Alcohol and tobacco have different rules.
