Walpole Island n'est pas un port de fret, mais une réserve autochtone non cédée — Bkejwanong, «là où les eaux se séparent» — à l'embouchure de la rivière Sainte-Claire dans le lac Sainte-Claire, sur la frontière Ontario–Michigan. La desserte maritime se limite au traversier passagers et véhicules reliant l'île à Algonac, complété par une intense navigation de plaisance. Aucune activité de manutention commerciale, de conteneurs ni de dédouanement n'y existe ; pour le fret des Grands Lacs, on se tourne vers le Port of Windsor ou Sarnia.
