À l'extrémité est de la chaussée de Canso, qui relie l'île du Cap-Breton à la Nouvelle-Écosse continentale, se trouve Port Hastings (UN/LOCODE CA PHA), un petit port naturel canadien. Autrefois appelé Plaster Cove en raison de ses gisements de gypse avant le changement de nom en 1869, le site n'a plus guère d'activité de fret maritime propre depuis la fermeture en 2011 de la carrière de gypse voisine de Sugar Camp.
