Quelques bateaux de pêche et de plaisance, la ruine du château de Maol dominant l'entrée, le pont de Skye en arrière-plan : Kyleakin, à la pointe est de l'île de Skye, est aujourd'hui un paisible village portuaire. Jusqu'en 1995, la localité était le terminal insulaire du ferry vers Kyle of Lochalsh, liaison supprimée à l'ouverture du pont de Skye. Le très petit port naturel, avec un quai de chargement d'à peine 1,8 mètre de tirant d'eau, n'accueille ni conteneurs ni fret commercial. L'accès se fait par la route A87 et le pont de Skye ; pour des marchandises dans la région, le continent via le pont et la zone d'Inverness sont les voies adaptées.
