Deux installations bien distinctes composent Krabi : un port fluvial peu profond près de la ville et un poste d'eau profonde à une dizaine de milles nautiques à l'ouest, à Laem Plong. C'est là que transitent le gypse et le clinker, chargés par convoyeurs et goulottes, aux côtés du charbon de bois, du caoutchouc et de matériaux de construction. Avec environ 3 mètres de tirant d'eau au chenal fluvial, le site n'accueille pas de lignes conteneurisées régulières. L'arrière-pays se dessert uniquement par la route, sans liaison ferroviaire sur cette côte de la mer d'Andaman. Pour les transitaires, Krabi reste un port régional de vrac sec et de colis lourds, complété par un trafic dense de ferries vers Phuket et Koh Phi Phi. Les conteneurs passeront plutôt par Phuket toute proche ou par les grands hubs de Laem Chabang et Bangkok, Kantang offrant une autre option vrac.
