Despite the 'port' label, AE ZUR (Az Zarqa) is not a general-cargo or container facility but the crude oil terminal on the man-made Zirku Island, about 140 km northwest of Abu Dhabi in the Arabian Gulf. Operated by ADNOC Offshore, it handles the processing, storage and export of crude from fields such as Upper Zakum, with oil piped subsea to the island and loaded onto VLCCs and ULCCs at dedicated berths. Access is tightly restricted to oil and gas operations, so there is no commercial cargo, container, customs clearance or hinterland trucking here. For forwarders, Zirku is relevant only as a tanker and crude-export point, not for liner or project shipments. Commercial freight into the UAE moves instead through Khalifa Port and Mina Zayed in Abu Dhabi, or Jebel Ali in Dubai.
