Yangpu (CN YPG) on Hainan Island handled 3.31 million TEU in 2025, a jump of more than 65% that ranks it among China's fastest-growing container ports and the core of the Hainan Free Trade Port. Under Free Trade Port rules the share of zero-tariff goods has climbed from 21% to 74%, cutting costs for importers, while COSCO Shipping expands its operator role. Road and rail link the port into Hainan's hinterland, and coastal services connect it to mainland hubs such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Cargo bound directly for the mainland is often routed via Zhanjiang or the Pearl River Delta ports.
