APM Terminals and other international operators run quay capacity at Xiamen, one of the world's largest container ports, on the Taiwan Strait in southern Fujian. The port moved about 12.25 million TEU and roughly 211 million tonnes of cargo in 2024 across nine major container terminals, including Dongdu, Haicang and Songyu, with more than 150 berths and vessel handling up to 200,000 tonnes. The Songyu Container Terminal alone offers around 1,246 metres of quay, 17 metres of depth alongside and about 1.8 million TEU of annual capacity. Cross-strait services are a defining feature, with direct sailings to Taipei and Kaohsiung. Beyond full containers, the port handles reefer, breakbulk, dry bulk and project cargo. Expressways and rail corridors link the Fujian hinterland, while feeder services connect smaller ports along the South China coast. For still larger throughput or different routings, Shenzhen, Ningbo-Zhoushan and Fuzhou are the obvious alternatives.
