A dry-cargo quay, the Vlorë 1 petroleum berth and a fishing harbour sit side by side at Vlorë, the second-largest port of Albania on the southern Adriatic. In 2024 it handled roughly 850,000 tonnes of general cargo and some 12,000–15,000 TEU a year, well behind the country's main gateway at Durrës. Seasonal ferry lines to Bari and Brindisi carry most of their passengers and accompanied vehicles between May and September. A new port costing around €170 million is close to completion and aims to modernise capacity and handling. Permissible depths of about 7.9 m keep Vlorë suited to smaller ships and feeder traffic rather than large container lines. For forwarders it is a regional outlet for southern and central Albania, while heavier box and liner volumes continue to move through Durrës.
