Coffee, granite, steel products, sugar and wood pulp fill the berths at Vitória (BR VIX), the main port of Brazil's Espírito Santo state. Concession holder VPorts, the privatised successor to port authority Codesa, runs the complex; Log-in operates the container and general-cargo terminal under a lease running to 2048, while trading house Comexport has taken over the vehicle terminal. The port moved about 8.4 million tonnes (up 15%) and roughly 228,000 boxes (over 250,000 TEU) in 2024, against a container terminal rated at around 500,000 TEU a year, with coffee exports up 63% to their highest level in more than two decades. Quays are split across both shores of Vitória bay, between the city of Vitória and Vila Velha, limiting berth length and draft for the largest vessels; a new port management system from technology supplier Indra is intended to speed up handling and traffic control. Next door, Vale's Tubarão terminal absorbs the heavy iron-ore flows that Vitória's general-cargo berths do not take. Road and rail serve Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, and VPorts aims to lift throughput by some 80% by 2029. For larger container volumes or deeper draft than the roughly 9 metres alongside, Santos and Rio de Janeiro are the stronger options.
