Vitória packs outsized export volumes into a compact bay port split between the city of Vitória and Vila Velha in Espírito Santo, run under concession by operator VPorts. Despite limited quay lengths, it moved roughly 8.4 million tonnes (up 15%) and around 228,000 boxes (over 250,000 TEU) in 2024, when coffee exports jumped 63% to a more-than-two-decade high and container throughput rose about 30%. Next door sits Tubarão, the dedicated iron-ore terminal built by mining group Vale, which handles the heavy bulk that Vitória's general-cargo berths do not. Road and rail link the port to the interior of Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, and VPorts plans to lift throughput by around 80% by 2029. For larger container volumes or deep-water needs, Santos and Rio de Janeiro offer greater capacity, with Tubarão covering bulk.
