Twice a day, at eight in the morning and three in the afternoon, the fishing fleet streams back into Vilanova i la Geltrú, 40 km south-west of Barcelona. One of the most important fishing harbours on the Catalan coast, it is known for the prized Vilanova prawn and pairs its fleet with a large recreational marina. Scheduled commercial or container services are not confirmed here; the port's economy rests on fishing, yachting and local trade. The Garraf hinterland is well linked by road and by the Barcelona–Tarragona rail line.
