At roughly 3,200 tonnes a year, commercial cargo through Ustka on Poland's Baltic coast is minimal — mostly grain, coal and slate. The small port at the mouth of the Słupia River today serves chiefly a fishing function, with workshops and support facilities for the fleet, and as a spa resort it also draws many yachts. Mobile cranes up to 24 tonnes are available, but there is no container, customs or dangerous-goods traffic of any scale; the site is, however, gaining a role as a service base for Baltic offshore wind farms. For regular freight, container and customs handling, Poland's major ports of Gdańsk and Gdynia to the east, or Szczecin–Świnoujście to the west, are the right choice.
