Around 30 multi-product berths make Mesaieed – also known as Umm Said, some 40 kilometres south of Doha – one of Qatar's principal industrial and energy ports. Operated under QatarEnergy, it handles mainly liquid and dry bulk: crude oil and refined products, LPG, chemicals and petrochemicals, plus aggregates such as gabbro. The port serves the adjacent Mesaieed Industrial City, home to metals, building-materials and chemical industries, and also takes breakbulk and project cargo across its commercial quays. True container traffic is minimal; Qatar's container handling is concentrated at Hamad Port. For freight forwarders, Mesaieed is therefore relevant chiefly for bulk, tanker and project shipments rather than conventional box logistics. LNG exports run through Ras Laffan further north.
