A large First Nations and non-First Nations small-boat fleet works out of Ucluelet, on the exposed west coast of Vancouver Island and the busiest sport-fishing landing in British Columbia. The harbour offers marinas, a fuel dock, a shipwright and repair shop, and deep-water anchorages, but with drafts around 3.7 metres it serves small craft rather than cargo ships. There are no container, breakbulk, or customs facilities here. Freight for the region moves through Port Alberni, further up the inlet, or the major ports around Vancouver.
