Rosneft anchors the cargo profile of Tuapse with one of the Black Sea's largest oil terminals, rated at roughly 17 million tonnes a year, some 13 million of it crude and products fed in by pipeline from the Russian interior. A grain terminal opened in 2009 loads Panamax vessels up to 50,000 tonnes and exports about 2 million tonnes of grain annually. In total the port turns over close to 20 million tonnes, ranking among Russia's largest by tonnage, yet it is firmly a bulk and energy port rather than a container facility. Road and rail link the narrow, mountain-backed site to the Kuban region, but the terrain limits space for breakbulk or boxes. For container traffic to southern Russia, nearby Novorossiysk is the stronger option. Forwarders should also confirm current sanctions and banking constraints before booking any Russian call.
