Grain, alumina, aluminium ingots, salt, coke, fertiliser, steel, wind-energy components and forest products — the cargo mix moving across Trois-Rivières on the St. Lawrence is firmly bulk and breakbulk. The port handled about 3.5 million tonnes in 2024 from 246 vessel calls (including 21 cruise ships), roughly 55 percent of it grain exports channelled through G3 Canada's terminal, which alone processed 2.1 million tonnes — about 94 percent of its engineered capacity. Another fifth of volume is aluminium from the regional smelter, while operators Logistec and QSL run dedicated berths for project and heavy-lift cargo. Since March 2025 G3 has been building a new grain terminal for about CAD 129 million (in service from 2027), part of a CAD 312 million expansion adding new docks 16 and 17. Container volumes are marginal; shippers needing box services in Québec rely on Montréal or Québec City instead. Inland reach runs via Autoroute 40 and rail links toward Montréal and the US Midwest.
