Behind the code BR TRM lies TEDUT (Terminal Marítimo Almirante Soares Dutra), an offshore oil terminal off Tramandai in southern Brazil. Operated by Transpetro, part of Petrobras, it uses two single-point mooring buoys in open water instead of quays, which is why it is classed as an open roadstead. Imported and cabotage crude oil flows through two 34-inch pipelines – roughly 6.5 km of them offshore – to the inland Alberto Pasqualini refinery (REFAP). The same system feeds petroleum products to REFAP and Braskem and loads surplus diesel and gasoline for export. The terminal handles no containers or general cargo; it is built purely for liquid energy products. Forwarders with boxes or breakbulk for Rio Grande do Sul use the port of Rio Grande instead.
