At 1,213,494 TEU in financial year 2026 (1 July 2025–30 June 2026, +0.4% year-on-year) and 24.6 million tonnes of total trade, Tauranga is New Zealand's largest port by both container throughput and total volume. Located on the Bay of Plenty by Mount Maunganui on the North Island, it is the country's primary export gateway.
