17.6 million tonnes moved through Tarragona (ES TAR) between January and July 2026, up 6.3 percent, led by petroleum products (+12.8%), iron ore (+49.9%) and dry bulk, which surged 53 percent to 651,032 tonnes in July alone; vehicle movements grew 61.3 percent to 18,737 units. Overall 29.2 million tonnes were handled in 2025, of which 18.82 million tonnes were bulk liquids feeding the Chemmed petrochemical cluster (~20 million tonnes annual output). The project integrates the adjacent La Boella rail terminal, strengthening intermodal hinterland connectivity. Tarragona is also Spain's leading agribulk port (~5.8 million tonnes of grain and feed in 2025); CEVA Logistics is expanding its port facilities here. Road, rail and pipelines serve Aragón and central Spain. Until the new terminal ramps up, container imports into Catalonia clear customs through Barcelona or Valencia.
