Coal, coke, iron ore, pig iron and steel are the backbone of the Jingtang port area, one of China's leading dry-bulk gateways. Together with Caofeidian and Fengnan it forms Tangshan port in Hebei, which moved about 884 million tonnes in 2025, up 2.5 percent year on year and second worldwide by tonnage. Jingtang's 46 berths also handle containers, LPG, grain and general cargo; a 250,000-tonne channel entered trial operation in 2024, and new berths 51 and 52 mark the area's first 300,000-tonne project. Container traffic is largely domestic — over 2.5 million TEU port-wide, with only a small share at Jingtang itself. Dense rail and road links tie the port to the steel and coal belt of Hebei and Shanxi. For forwarders it is above all a bulk and industrial-cargo port; container volumes route via Tianjin or Caofeidian, with coal imports often via Qinhuangdao.
