APM Terminals, Eurogate and Marsa Maroc anchor Tanger Med, the container complex on the Strait of Gibraltar that remains the Mediterranean's busiest box port. Its four terminals offer roughly 9 million TEU of capacity, and in 2025 they handled more than 11.1 million TEU, up 8.4 percent year on year after the APM Terminals TC4 extension came on stream in mid-December 2024. The business is overwhelmingly transhipment: deep-sea services on the Asia–Europe and Europe–Americas trades relay cargo here onto feeders for West Africa, the western Mediterranean and northern Europe, and 1,319 mega-ships over 290 metres called in 2025. For a forwarder that means fast connections and a wide feeder grid, but also that most containers clear customs at their final port rather than in Morocco. Total cargo reached about 161 million tonnes in 2025, up 13.3 percent. The adjacent Tanger Med free zones host export industry, including a large Renault plant whose output moves by RoRo and container. Road motorways and a rail link reach the Moroccan interior toward Casablanca. For genuine Moroccan import clearance consider Casablanca; for pure transhipment, Algeciras sits directly across the strait as the obvious alternative.
