On the Inland Sea coast of Shikoku, in the city of Mitoyo in Kagawa Prefecture, Takuma is a small port whose trade centres on imported timber, LPG and general cargo rather than container liner services. Logs are discharged at three nearshore anchorages, while tankers land liquefied petroleum gas and propane at the port's berths. Container volumes are modest and largely local, so Takuma is not a box hub. Road links serve the Mitoyo hinterland, with regional rail available for onward distribution. Shippers moving containers are better served by Takamatsu or Mizushima on the Inland Sea, or by Kobe for deep-sea connections.
