Around 90,000 TEU a year pass through DB Port Szczecin's container terminal — feeder volumes that mark this as a regional box port rather than a deep-sea call. Set on the lower Oder some 65 km inland, Szczecin forms with Świnoujście the Baltic's sixth-largest port complex, handling roughly 35.3 million tonnes in 2023. Dry and liquid bulk dominate: coal, ore, coke, salt, fertilisers and scrap, alongside steel products, paper and cellulose, and oversized project shipments. It is also Poland's largest transhipment point for granite blocks. The fairway from the open sea is limited to about 9 metres, so the largest container vessels berth at downstream Świnoujście instead. Rail, road and the Oder waterway link the quays to Silesia, Berlin and the wider Central European hinterland. For deep-sea container freight, Gdańsk (DCT) and Gdynia are the practical alternatives.
