Container boxes, potash, LNG and crude share the same Bay of Fundy waterfront at Saint John, New Brunswick's busiest port. The two DP World container terminals, Rodney and Navy Island, moved roughly 239,000 TEU in 2025 — up about 29% on 2024 and a record for Atlantic Canada. The CAD 247M West Side Modernization, completed in late 2025 with federal, provincial and DP World funding, added a berth, a deepened channel, more laydown area and improved rail, lifting capacity step by step toward a 1 million TEU annual goal. Since 2024 DP World has also run the Canpotex potash facility, through which Canadian potash is exported. Canada's largest refinery, operated by Irving, anchors the liquid-bulk trades alongside imported LNG at Canaport. Breakbulk, forest products and project cargo complete the mix, with CN providing intermodal reach into the Canadian and US interior. Pure container shippers may still prefer Halifax as Atlantic Canada's gateway, or Montreal for the St Lawrence corridor.
